Applicants can also qualify based on their income. For income-based applicants documents can be state or federal.


Benefit letters with a time frame* must be valid during the time of the application. If the letter does not include a start and ending time frame, it must be issued within the previous 12 months or have a future expiration

date.

Qualification:

  • Letters must be issued by a state or federal agency and the agency must be visible on the letter. Either the name of the agency or a logo.
  • Letters need to include the issuing entity, subscriber name, and address.

Acceptable Documents: (Must be issued by a federal agency)

● Copy of most recent pay stub(s) from all employers covering the last two months for all members of the household
● Your most recently filed tax return (must be signed) or W-2 form. (The tax return form should include the first page with income information and the second page showing it was signed and submitted)
● A signed letter from each employer indicating the level of your wage
● Documentation of Social Security income
● Copy of an unemployment form with eligibility dates
● Copies of the two most recent unemployment checks
● Copy of the most recent bank statement showing direct deposit of income (for SSI, Social Security, annuity, pension)

● Any benefits or other income is income based.

Requirements:

  1. Applicants will enter their income level. Verify the document is below the income level on the chart below. Add $7,245 for each person in the household over 4.
  2. When an applicant submits their application they will verify they are within the income guidelines

Pictures of a picture or a screenshot are acceptable as proof of eligibility as long as they include all required fields. If the customer is using a screenshot from “yourtexasbenfits.com” it needs to include either the URL or the logo for it to be eligible.

No or Limited Income Affidavits cannot be accepted as income proof and should be rejected when submitted for income verification purposes.
